Hello and welcome! I am so glad you are here! Are you ready to develop a healthy relationship with food, have more energy throughout the day, and meet your personal goals? If you are, you came to the right place. I am here to help you achieve all these things and more because you are worth it and you are totally deserving of living your best life.
Why nutrition? We all have a story and here is a quick snapshot of mine. My husband was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition in 2013 and through diet and lifestyle changes he transformed his life and feels better now than he ever has. Seeing how food healed him, I wanted to learn more and help others live better lives so I enrolled in the Masters of Nutrition and Integrative Health program at Maryland University of Integrative Health.
Throughout that time, I continue to develop my passion for fitness and CrossFit and I realized I wanted to further my knowledge on how to fuel my body for CrossFit and increase my performance. I decided to meet with a Nutrition Coach and it has been life changing. My energy increased and my CrossFit performance skyrocketed. Having such a positive experience, I wanted to expand my knowledge base and help coach others so I just completed my NCI Level 1 Nutrition Coaching Certification.
I am excited to be in the nutrition space and to share what I’ve learned to positively impact your life. I can’t wait to be a part of your journey!
*Healthy Habits*
This month week we are going to focus on meditation so let’s work on getting your OM on! Daily meditation creates better self-awareness, decreases stress and anxiety, and improves cognition. This month I challenge you to meditate 10 minutes a day. Here are some great guided meditation sources:
It’s finally fall here in Colorado although the weather feels more like winter! This time of year I like to eat pumpkin anything!
*
Did you know pumpkins are a great source of many vitamins, minerals, and beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that converts to vitamin A in the body?
1 cup of pureed pumpkin gives you 200% of your daily recommended intake of beta-carotene.
*
Try roasted pumpkin as a yummy side dish.
*
Cut a sugar pie pumpkin into slices and drizzle with avocado oil, salt, pepper, and your favorite spices (I like nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves), roast at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until it is at your desired consistency.
*
For a fall treat, you can add just a can of pumpkin puree (nothing else) to a box of brownie mix or cake mix for a yummy dessert.
*
Remember that “pumpkin” anything is a huge fad right now! Just because a product advertises it has pumpkin in it, it may also contain added sugar, chemicals, and is most likely processed. Stick with whole, real foods:)
